About the Journal


To provide social studies teachers with open access to the key findings and practical implications of social studies research in short accessible articles.


Through ASSERT K-12 social studies teachers will have access to seminal and emerging insights into social studies teaching and learning from published research that can help to foster an acceleration of powerful and purposeful social studies in North America and across the globe.


Social studies education and related fields of interest to social studies teachers. Articles will be included with plans to incorporate resource reviews in the near future. Articles published in ASSERT are unique and reflect scholars’ previously published, peer-reviewed articles. The intention of these articles is to make the core conclusions and implications available to teachers in a concise and accessible manner. All articles are paired with Q&As based on reviewers' questions for the author(s).
